Meter faulty – reassessment bill issued as per subsequent readings obtained after changing the meter – P/314/2012 – Varkey Mathew, Perumbavoor.
The audit party observed that the power meter was faulty and after the replacement of meter the consumption was found increased and hence needs reassessment of the previous bills. The Board has not taken meter reading for a long period, citing the reason as door locked condition and after that as meter faulty. It is held that the Board has failed in replacing the faulty meter in a reasonable time as per the provision in Supply Code and reassessing the consumer, after replacement of faulty meter after a period of 5 years is not fair.
